Lesson for Thursday, May 13
I am not at school today and you have an asynchronous lesson. Your lesson is described below and on the calendar. If you need to speak to me, please email me. We will have a help session today at 3:35 and tomorrow morning at 7:30. Please come to the help session with questions. If you have been absent from class, you should make sure you have watched the recordings for that day and that you have done the daily assignments. Help sessions are good, but independent practice is better! Make sure you are practicing. Your test is Monday, May 17. Your titration lab is due today.
Lesson for today: I have made a practice test for Solutions. It is on Teams and on the documents page of the class website. The answers are at the end of the document. You should become very comfortable with this information and problems. If you run out of questions for practice, work all of the questions on the Student Objectives/Study Guide for the test. The key to the Student Objectives practice is on the answer key page of the website.

Lesson for Tuesday, March 30
1. Watch this video on Enthalpy of Formation and Hess’s Law. These notes start where yesterday’s notes stopped. I made this video last year, so please ignore starting comments and the assignment at the end. Instead, do the assignment below. Link to video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr8g_k0YI7Q
2. To do this assignment, you will need a table of Enthalpies of Formation for different compounds. You can find that by clicking HERE. If you need the enthalpy of formation for a compound not in this table, just “Google” it! In the Worksheets for Thermochemistry packet – go to the section titled Enthalpy of Formation and Hess’s Law. Work Part 1, Problems 1 and 2; Part 2, Problems 1 and 2; and Part 3, Problems 1 and 2.
Lesson for Monday, March 29
1. For today’s lesson, you will need the notes packet that we have been working in - Motion of Atoms and Molecules Part 2 – Thermochemistry. Today’s lecture will start on page 5 at Enthalpy and continue thru Heat of Solution on page 6. This video is me teaching this lesson with sample problems. Please watch the video and pay close attention to the sample problems. Here is the link to the video: https://youtu.be/_FpQNVfyB8k (Remember, these notes can also be found in the Thermochemistry Powerpoint. I am using the Thermochemistry Powerpoint in the video.)
2. Worksheets for Thermochemistry – page 3. Work Heat of Solution problems 1-4. Work them first, then check your answers – key is posted on website.
Lesson for Friday, March 26, 2021
Watch both of the videos linked below. Stop and take notes as needed or work the sample problems along with the teachers. Remember, you can stop the videos and listen to parts again if the teacher goes too fast! AFTER you have watched BOTH videos, go to OneNote and find the Worksheets for Thermochemistry packet. The first section is titled Thermochemical Equations. Work problems 1-9.

If you need help with Lewis structures, here is a video to help you: Lewis Structures Using NASU
These videos are about molecular geometry:
VSEPR Theory: An Introduction You MUST watch this video. This is exactly the lesson I planned to teach on Monday, November 2 - but probably better! It is 21 minutes long and I expect you to have watched it at least once before Wednesday, November 4. I will answer questions , but will not reteach this material during class time.
VSEPR Practice Problems These are exactly the examples that planned to use in class on Monday, November 2. You must watch this video. It is 15 minutes long and has examples you will see on your test. Taking notes is advised. I will answer questions, but I will not reteach this material in class.
Vesper Theory: Common Mistakes Please watch. You will be glad you did. Very helpful! (10 minutes long)
